Gopala Ratnam Subramaniam (born 2 June 1956), known professionally as Mani Ratnam, is an Indian film director, screenwriter, and producer who predominantly works in Tamil cinema.Mani Ratnam was born in Madurai, Tamil Nadu as the second child of a family that was closely associated with film production.His father S. Gopala Ratnam was a film distributor who worked for Venus Pictures. he graduated with a degree in commerce from the Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda College, affiliated to the Madras University. Later, he did his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in finance from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Bombay. After finishing his post-graduation in 1977, he was employed in a firm in Madras as a management consultant.
Suhasini Maniratnam (born 15 August 1961) known mononymously as Suhasini, is an Indian actress, director, producer and writer in the Tamil film industry. She has worked as an actress in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films.Suhasini was born to actor–lawyer Charuhasan and Komalam in Paramakudi, as the middle child of three sisters.Suhasini attended the Municipal Elementary School in Paramakudi,She then became a student of cinematography from the M.G.R. Government Film and Television Training Institute, and started her career as a camera assistant to Ashok Kumar and went on to become an actress.
