If there is one type of astrology which differs from all astrological systems, it is definitely the Nadi Jyotish. Its birth goes back 5000 years when saints with an enormous amount of knowledge and enlightenment predicted the past, present, and future lives of human beings. They wrote their predictions on palm leaves. These leaves are still being carried from generation to generation to tell the tales of people whose stories
Nadi Jyotish Meaning
Nadi in Tamil means ‘’in search of ‘’. This refers to an individual who comes to a Nadi astrologer in search of his predictions. These predictions are made on palm leaves known as Nadies. They are written in a poetic form and seen as a conversation between Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
Principle Of Nadi Astrology
Nadi is the central most concept of Nadi Jyotish. There are 150 Nadis in a sign or Rashi, one sign is 30 degrees of the zodiac. Twelve signs of the zodiac are grouped into three categories :
- Movable (Chara),
- Fixed (Sthira) and
- Dual (Dvisvabhava)
Each Nadi of the 150 Nadis has names in accordance with these three types of signs. There are 1800 Nadis forming a full circle. The numbers and names of Nadis are similar in each Chara signs but differ from series of number and names in the next sign. For example, the first Nadi in Chara signs is Vasudha Nadi, but in Sthira’s signs, the order will be the reverse of Chara. Hence, Vasudha is 150th Nadi in Chara. This concept is mentioned in Nadi Jyotish Shastra.
Accuracy of Nadi Jyotish
It is a scientific and verifiable astrological system. Nadi astrology follows predictions of planets at three levels – Sub Lords, Nakshatra, and planets. Besides, it follows both the Nirayana Bhava Chalit chart, in addition to the lagan (ascendant) chart. It is called scientific because the rules of astrology which apply on one person are also applicable to others, just as science which is similar for all.
History Of Nadi Jyotish
Nadi Prediction is a 5000 years old form of astrology. Saint Agastya is the founder of Nadi Jyotish. Saint Agastya was a scientific genius of his time. Further, with the blessings of Lord Shiva his mental consciousness expanded to such an extent that he was able to foresee the life of each individual on Earth and the universe. Moreover, under his influence sages known as Siddha also predicted the future of each individual through their yogic powers. This power enabled them to look into the past and future of the entire universe and recorded the life of human beings who existed, or existing or were going to exist.
The Nadi leaves were stored in Vaitheeswarankoil, near Chidambaram in Tamil Nadu, a state in South India. It is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. But later during the British colonial rule, these were auctioned and various astrologer families bought them. Today, a number of these families have started their Nadi Jyotish institutes to reach people who want to know their destiny. Still, even they find it difficult to read and predict.
Nadi Astrology Predictions
The basic belief of Nadi Astrology is that Atma or soul is immortal. The physical body perishes but the soul continues its journey from being to another. This journey of the soul is predictable according to the karma of the physical body it was existing in. Hence, Karma will decide the destiny of the person in the next life. Therefore, tracing the soul’s journey will give you in-depth into what it was, is, and will be. This analysis was then penned down on leaves, and stored with the use of herbs.
There are millions of Nadi leaves written for people all over the world. But you will only get your leaf if your Karma takes you there. Therefore, getting your leaf is part of your destiny.
Nadi astrologers take your birth date, time and place of birth, and three impressions of your thumb. They believe that energy released by planets touches your skin and leaves certain marks. Your fingerprints are results of that friction. On the basis of your details, they take out a set of leaves. Further, after answered to a series of questions were you reply in a ‘yes’ or ‘no’, you will reach your set of Nadi leaves.
The predictions on the leaves are recorded in a notebook. The result will be according to your Lagna and Nakshatra. Since predictions are in the Tamil language you will have a translator, if you do not understand the language.
