An award-winning journalist and television personality, Maria Menounos is best known as the former co-host of the popular entertainment news show, Extra. From 2010 to 2017, she also served as a co-anchor and co-correspondent for the NBCUniversal syndicated show Access Hollywood. In addition to her television duties, Menounos is also an accomplished actress, author and entrepreneur.Born in Sudbury, Massachusetts on June 8, 1978, Maria Menounos is the daughter of Greek immigrants Costas and Litsa Menounos. She has two older sisters, Liana and Irene. Menounos attended the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Sudbury, and as a young girl she participated in beauty pageants. In 1996, she was crowned Miss Massachusetts Teen USA, and the following year she won the title of Miss Teen USA.After graduating from high school, Menounos enrolled at Emerson College in Boston, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism.
