Sampath Kumar (18 September 1950 – 30 December 2009), known by his stage name Vishnuvardhan, was an Indian actor predominantly in Kannada cinema.He appeared in more than 220 films all together in Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu. He was called The Phoenix of Indian Cinema.Vishnuvardhan was born in Mysore to H. L. Narayana Rao and Kamakshamma. His father was an artist, music composer and a screenwriter who was known for his collection of musical instruments and had written the story, screenplay, dialogues and lyrics for the 1962 Kannada movie Vidhivilasa.Vishnuvardhan was educated first in Mysore’s Gopalswamy School and then at Bangalore’s Kannada Model High School. He attended high school and obtained a degree from National College, Basavanagudi, Bangalore.He made his debut in the 1972 film, Vamsha Vriksha, in a supporting role. The same year he played the lead role in Puttanna Kanagal’s Naagarahaavu, and was recognized as ‘The Angry Young Man of Kannada Cinema’. He has played a variety of roles in different genres.The last film of Vishnuvardan is Aptarakshaka.

Bharathi Vishnuvardhan (born 15 August 1950),also known mononymously as Bharathi, is an Indian actress known primarily for her work in Kannada cinema and television serials. She began her career in 1966, as a lead actress, with the Kannada movie Love in Bangalore. In a career spanning over 50 years, Bharathi has appeared in 150 films. Apart from 100 films in Kannada, she has also acted in a handful of Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films.Bharathi was born into a Marathi-speaking family in Bhadravathi on 15 August 1950 in the erstwhile Indian state of Mysore (now Karnataka). Her father V. M. Ramachandra Rao was a tailor and mother Bhadravathi Bai was a homemaker. Bharathi studied at Malleswaram Ladies Association (M.L.A) High School and then joined Maharani’s Women’s Science College in Bengaluru. While she was active in both sports and dance, her ambition at the time was to become a basketball player or an athlete. She even represented Karnataka State Level Throw-ball team during her college days. Destiny willed otherwise. In 1964, photos of her dance performance caught the eye of Kannada actor Kalyan Kumar, who cast her in Love in Bangalore.Her first Kannada release was Dudde Doddappa followed by Love in Bangalore.
