Uttam Kumar (born Arun Kumar Chatterjee; 3 September 1926 – 24 July 1980), popularly known as the Mahanayak, was an Indian film actor, director, producer, singer, composer and playback singer who predominantly worked in Bengali cinema.Kumar’s career started with the 1948 film Drishtidan. He appeared in over 200 films in his career. Some of his best works were in the movies Harano Sur, Jhinder Bandi, Sesh Anka, Deya Neya, Nayak, Antony Firingee, Amanush, Bagh Bondi Khela and Chiriyakhana (1967).
Supriya Devi (Supriya Choudhury; 8 January 1933 – 26 January 2018) was an Indian actress who is known for her work in Bengali cinema for more than 50 years.Supriya was born in Myitkyina, Burma.Her father was Gopal Chandra Banerjee, a lawyer. He was from Faridpur (now in Bangladesh).During World War II, her family moved to Calcutta (present-day Kolkata, India).Supriya was seven years old when she made her acting début in two plays directed by her father.
