Paresh Rawal (born 30 May 1955) is an Indian actor, comedian,film producer and politician known for his works notably in Hindi films.Rawal was born and raised in Bombay (now Mumbai).He is an alumnus of Narsee Monjee College of Commerce & Economics, Vile Parle, Mumbai.Born into a Gujarati family hailing from Gandhinagar, Gujarat but settled in Mumbai, he did his schooling in an English-medium school, with Hindi a mandatory subject. He learnt Marathi by default, living his entire life in Maharashtra.Rawal made his debut with the 1985 film Arjun in a supporting role. He was also part of the cast of the Doordarshan TV Serial, Bante Bigadte. It was the 1986 blockbuster Naam that established him as an actor with great talent. He then appeared in over 100 films throughout the 1980s and 1990s, mostly as the main villain, such as in Roop ki Rani Choron Ka Raja, Kabzaa, King Uncle, Ram Lakhan, Daud, Baazi and so many more.On 10 September 2020 he was appointed as the chief of the National School of Drama, by the President of India.He won as the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Member of Parliament (MP) from Ahmedabad East constituency in the 2014 Indian general election. In 2014, he was awarded Padma Shri.
Dr. Swaroop Rawal (née Sampat; born 3 November 1958) is an Indian actress who has acted in several Hindi language films such as Naram Garam and Nakhuda and is known for her performance in television serials like Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi. She won the Miss India contest in 1979 and represented India at Miss Universe 1979.Swaroop obtained a PhD. in Education from the University of Worcester. She did her doctoral thesis on using drama to enhance life skills in children with learning disabilities.Swaroop Sampat became successful with the hugely popular TV comedy show Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, where she played the role of Shafi Inamdar’s wife. She had reportedly rejected another important serial on television at that time because she found the script of Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi very touching and was sure that it connected well with common people and showed their day-to-day activities and living with simplicity. It is a decision she is happy about as the serial turned out to be an all-time hit. She also appeared in the Kamal Haasan-Reena Roy starrer Karishma.

He instantly told his friend that he is going to marry this girl which Swaroop chose to ignore.Recalling their first meeting, Swaroop said:“I was wearing a pink saree and I was handing out brochures. And Paresh walks in with his friend and he says, he is going to marry me. But you know he is so dumb, he didn’t talk to me for nearly a year.”Paresh and Swaroop met in the 1970s and dated throughout the 80s. They saw their careers flourishing and later decided to tie the knot. According to Paresh and Swaroop, the best thing about their relationship was that not a lot of people knew about it. They had a really intimate wedding with only the near and dear ones in attendance. They got married in 1987 and it was an amazing affair.
